of the things that make ALA a special

Some
interesting facts about ALA:
w ALA
students commute to our school from
approximately 45 different towns
and cities throughout New Jersey.
w Our
student population has more than
tripled in the last decade.
w ALA
was named an “Exemplary
School Program” in the Mid-Atlantic
Region by ACSI in 2005.
w ALA
students are very diverse representing
many ethnicities, races, religious
backgrounds, economic experiences,
and both urban and suburban identities.
Few schools can boast of such diversity!
w ALA
is housed in an unconventional
building which was formerly owned
by ITT Defenses, providing an excellent
venue for our educational program.
w· ALA
is a ministry of Nutley Abundant
Life Worship Center and as a Christian
School participates in Bible classes
and weekly chapel services.
w ALA
originated an award winning program
called “The Law of Kindness” which
teaches students to treat each
other justly and serve one another
with
kindness.
w ALA
allows parents full access into
lesson plans, gradebooks, attendance,
and homework listings with a simple
click of the mouse through a newly
installed internet-based automation
system.
w ALA
offers a choral music program for
all students during the week
and a special opportunity for Saturday
morning instrumental classes including
saxophone, flute, clarinet, bell
set, drums, trombone, and guitar.
w The
ALA Warriors participate in sports
such as volleyball, soccer, basketball,
and track & field and have
access to their own state-of-the-art
gymnasium
newly constructed in 2001.
w ALA’s
school newspaper, The Warrior Word
is in its second year,
produced by the seniors and enjoyed
by all!
w ALA’s teachers annually host
the ACSI Metro Area Teacher’s
Convention drawing nearly 500 teachers
from all over the area.
w ALA
has two computer labs and partners
with the University of Richmond
to provide integrated technology
educational
opportunities.
w ALA
continues to grow! Our academy
just added a second fourth grade
class to its program due to demand
and the needs of students.
w ALA’s
principal, Mrs. Suzanne Bruno,
was the first teacher hired
for Abundant Life Academy (formerly
Nutley Assembly Christian School)
in 1986 who still teaches a high
school literature class each day.
w ALA
is currently in its 22nd year and
looking forward to many more!
